Pruning a Large Modern Shrub Rose
Sally Holmes, the seedling of Hybrid Musk rose Ballerina is our subject in this photo essay. Sally is a very large growing plant with smooth canes which often reaches 8' x 8'. It doubles well as a fence or climbing rose and is phenomenal in its ability to rebloom. Like many modern shrubs it is good at getting quickly out of scale in the smaller garden, but with yearly pruning can be kept in scale.
