Pruning a Medium-sized Shrub Rose and Making Hardwood Cuttings

We prune the modern Shrub rose, Rachel Bowes Lyon, a plant which in our climate grows to 4' or 5' in height and spreads equally broad. This is a hardy rose, everblooming, which was raised from our native Rosa californica. It is a slender-caned plant which is rather dense and bushy. We complete this first series with the taking and preparing of hardwood cuttings in the manner we utilize for our nursery production of roses. Fall and Winter are excellent times for the amateur to start cuttings, so we recommend this demonstration to all.
