'General Vicomtesse de Vibraye'
A seedling of the old Japanese cultivar 'Rosea' and very similar; though a deeper color, equally attractive when deep rose as when blue. As a blue it is outstanding, with the light and clarity of porcelain. Flower heads are smoother, more rounded and less crowded and indented than those of 'Rosea.' The flowers are smooth edged and simple with softly pointed petals. There is a soft and very antique quality about this hydrangea which endears it to many gardeners. Blooms over a very extended season, and is less sensitive to hard pruning than some. We are very smitten with the blue-green coloring that develops as the blooms age. Moullire, 1909.
