Crowded inflorescences tend to blend the colors of fully developed florets with new, green buds and opening flowers of creamy green. In acid soils a lovely sky blue to lilac blue and in neutral soils reddish pink, the pointed petals much darker in tint at the edges. A long bloomer but with a tendency for the heavy bloom heads to sink into the foliage. Matthes, 1925.
