Red
True red today is somewhat warmer in tint than it was to Victorian gardeners; the names we apply to colors have changed with time and with technology. For many people vermillion or orange-red is an orange, not a red tint. Others find crimson to be a purple tone. We do not single out maroon in our chart; a dark red tinted brown rather than purple. Instead we include maroon colored roses with the dark reds.
